Electronic Bill Payment Disclosure and Authorization

The following terms and conditions apply to your use of Bill Pay at Dort Federal Credit Union. Your use of Bill Pay within Dort Federal's Internet Banking site, Dort Online, constitutes your agreement to these terms and conditions.

Registering for Bill Pay

Bill Pay allows you to make payments to a third party from your Dort Federal Share Draft/Checking Account. To use Bill Pay you must become a registered user of Dort Online. Once you have access to your Dort Federal Credit Union checking account online, you may apply for Bill Pay. Dort Federal reserves the right to approve or decline the application.

Monthly Fee

FREE. There is no fee for Bill Pay at Dort Federal. We will, however, close inactive accounts, accounts that have not been used to pay a bill in 2 months and where there are no pending payments. We will notify you by mail before we close your account for inactivity and give you an opportunity to start using it. Dort Federal has the right to change fees at any time. Additional fees will not be assessed without notice to you.

Scheduling Bill Payments

Payments are made either by paper check or electronically by ACH credit. The method employed on any single payment depends on whether the Bill Payment processor has established an electronic payment relationship with the payee and they are found on the electronic payee database. You may schedule a single payment or recurring payments.

Restrictions

The Bill Payment processor has a payment cap of $9,999.00 and a $1.00 minimum, regardless of how the payment is disbursed. The Bill Payment user interface limits the entry of payment amounts greater $9,999.00 and less than $1.00. Any payee you wish to pay through Bill Pay must be payable in U.S. dollars. Some government or legal agencies will not accept checks issued by third parties. Dort Federal is not responsible for any penalties, late fees, finance charges, etc. incurred if a payee will not accept payment from the Bill Pay service.

Funds Debited from Checking Account

On the process date that you select, the Bill Payment processor generates an ACH debit (in the amount of the bill payment) to your Share Draft/Checking Account. Your Share Draft/Checking Account will be debited within two banking days.

Payees Receiving Bill Payments

The payee will be in receipt of payment within three (3) banking business days for an electronic payee and five (5) banking business days if the payee is paid by check.

Bill Payment on Holidays and Weekends

Bill Pay processes payments on all days excluding Sundays and Federal Reserve Board recognized holidays. In cases where a payment(s) gets scheduled on a Sunday (this can potentially happen on a recurring payment), the payment is processed on the day before (Saturday). If you happen to be setting up the payment on this particular Saturday, the bill payment will be processed on the next banking business day. Also, please note that weekly recurring payments may not be scheduled on Saturdays.

Non-Sufficient Funds

In the event that a payment(s) is made without sufficient funds in the account, the system will put a block on your Bill Pay account. No further payments will be allowed until the funds are successfully debited from your account. Our bill pay provider will try a total of 3 times to debit your account for the funds to cover the payment(s). Once the funds are taken out of your account to cover the payment(s) your bill pay account will be unblocked within 2 business days. After 3 unsuccessful tries to debit your account for the funds to the cover the payment(s), our bill pay provider will send your account to their collections department. The collections department will contact you directly to work out payment.

Errors in Bill Payments

If you select an electronic payee address that matches your payment coupon exactly and the Bill Payment processor routes the payment to a different payment center, the Bill Payment processor is responsible for the late charge and will reimburse any payee imposed late fees, up to $50.00. If you select an electronic payee with an address that is different from that indicated on the payment coupon, you are responsible for the late charge. You always have the option to manually set up a payee with the (correct) address found on the payment coupon.

Placing a Stop Payment on Bill Payments

A payment may be edited or deleted any time before the payment is processed. For stop payment requests initiated after processing, you must contact Dort Federal's Member Support at feedback@dortfcu.org or (810) 7678390. Payments remitted electronically cannot be stopped. The fee for a stop payment is $25.00.
